Zhongli Buffs Will Make His Jade Shield Weaken Enemies

It turns out there will be even more Zhongli buffs in Genshin Impact. But the latest news about the upcoming changes designed to improve the character have a new focus. miHoYo announced that it now wants to make sure he works better in solo parties and in co-op parties by further improving the Dominus Lapidis Elemental Skill’s Jade Shield.

In Genshin Impact, Zhongli’s Elemental Skill has two possible functions. Tapping it creates the Stone Stele that acts as a platform, continually deals damage, and also can could react with elements to give you energy to pick up a temporary shield. Holding it creates a Jade Shield around him (or your currently playable character) that also dealt Geo damage to the area around you. miHoYo’s initially announced Zhongli buff would have spawned a Stone Stele when you made the Jade Shield, if there wasn’t one around, and would have increased the strength of the shield.

Now, an active Jade Shield will also decrease both the elemental and physical RES of enemies around by 20% for a brief period of time. This Genshin Impact Zhongli buff is designed to make him more useful when you’re in multiplayer, since it means everyone playing will have an easier time damaging foes when Dominus Lapidis’ shield is around. It also means someone playing alone gets a perk even if elemental reactions aren’t triggered.

Genshin Impact is available for the PlayStation 4, PC, Android devices, and Apple iOS devices. It will also come to the Nintendo Switch. The Zhongli banner was available between November and December 2020, and it is unknown when he will return. His changes are expected to appear in update 1.3.
