You’re Not Imagining the Genshin Impact Barbara Voice Change

Did you notice someone didn’t sound exactly the same after the Genshin Impact 1.3 update? Maybe when going through the Xiao Test Run? There’s an English Barbara voice change.

If you check Barbara’s in-game profile still lists Laura Stahl as her voice actress. However, if you use her in the field, in battle, or check her voiced lines, you’ll hear the new recordings. It is especially noticeable when she uses her Elemental abilities, like Let the Show Begin and Shining Miracle.

Here’s an example video from Lu Bu Feng Xian showing the English Barbara voice change in Genshin Impact 1.3. First, it looks at one of her original lines, then it shows how it changed after the update.

For people who miss the old Barbara and her enthusiasm, there is a video for that. miHoYo released the "An Idol’s Healing Magic"trailer in January 2021. Though, admittedly, she was rather mellow and subdued in it too.

Genshin Impact is available for the PlayStation 4, PC, and mobile devices. A Nintendo Switch version is on the way. Barbara is still able to be acquired for free. If someone reaches Adventure Rank 18, they will receive a copy of the Hydro catalyst-users to help their party.
