Nintendo released information introducing Sommie, the mascot of the upcoming Fire Emblem Engage. It is unclear what Sommie even is, but it seems to be a Guardian Deity of sorts for the floating island of Somniel. The cute-looking creature is said to have lived there for time immemorial. Interacting with Sommie in various ways will grant the players benefits.

In a conversation with Vander, Alear learns more information about Sommie, the mysterious creature that started appearing in Somniel not long before they woke up. Vander reveals that Sommie lived in the island for a long time, but likes to appear and disappear at their own whim. Alear’s mother, Lady Lumera, used to play with the creature when they were young.

The short Fire Emblem Engage video released by Nintendo also shows that the player can pet Sommie. Not only that, someone is encouraged that to do so, as doing this will grant the player resources like Bond Fragments. The video also showed through the menus that players will be able to feed Sommie and change their attire, but there are no further details on those functions yet.
Fire Emblem Engage comes out worldwide on January 20, 2023 for the Nintendo Switch. It is available to pre-order in the eShop.
