Yoshiki Okamoto has published a teaser for his new game project with the tentative title Project K. The veteran game producer noted in a press release that the new project will involve blockchain and NFT.
Okamoto also opened an official website and X account for Project K. The website’s background contains multiple keywords, with the ones in the alphabet reading “Android,” “iOS,” “Web3,” and “NFT.” Some of the other terms in Japanese katakana include “Roguelite,” “Breed,” “Trade,” “App,” “Smartphone,” and “Blockchain.” The website thus confirms that the blockchain game will be available on Android and iOS mobile devices.
The teaser trailer for Project K is available to watch via the Okakichi YouTube channel:
Yoshiki Okamoto began his career in the gaming industry by joining Konami in 1981 and creating the arcade shooter games Time Pilot and Gyruss. He is most known for his tenure in Capcom from 1984, where he recruited the illustrator Akira “Akiman” Yasuda which eventually led to the creation of Street Fighter II.
Okamoto then went on to establish Game Republic in 2003, where he created the Genji action game series. However, the company went defunct in 2011 and Okamoto ultimately decided to shift his focus to mobile games. He was involved in the development of Monster Strike, which launched in late 2013 and is still actively ongoing as of 2024. Okamoto has also set up his own YouTube channel, where he announced his plans to retire on his 66th birthday in June 2027.
Yoshiki Okamoto will fully reveal the Android and iOS mobile blockchain/NFT game Project K on March 5, 2024.
