Following their English trailer, Nintendo have released English-language screenshots of Yo-kai Watch for the Nintendo 3DS.

Yo-kai Watch is an upcoming RPG where you use your Yo-kai Watch to find and befriend creatures based on Japanese folklore. In many cases, you’ll need to do battle with them in order to win their trust or respect. Once you have good Yo-kai by your side, you’ll be able to use them to challenge evil Yo-kai.

“Yo-kai are not ghosts, monsters or creatures,” Nintendo’s press release states. “Yo-kai are, quite simply, Yo-kai. They cannot be seen by the human eye, but they are everywhere. Whether born from the soul of a deceased human, or an everyday object discovering its higher purpose, their personalities are distinctly humanlike.”

Yo-kai Watch will be available for the Nintendo 3DS this holiday. In Japan, the Yo-kai Watch franchise is a massive multimedia property for its creator, Level 5. Level 5 have had plans to introduce the franchise in the West for quite some time now, and will attempt to replicate the success it has found in Japan.
