The opening for Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon will be sung by Japanese idol group SixTONES. The opening song is titled “NEW ERA,” which seems appropriate given Yashahime will be about the children of the previous Inuyasha cast. [Thanks, Famitsu!]
Jesse, a member of SixTONES, spoke to Famitsu about the creation of the opening song for Yashahime. He mentioned that creating the opening theme had many challenges. Ultimately, SixTONES wanted to create a song that reflected the upcoming anime appropriately and carried the same strength.
SixTONES is a Japanese idol group formed by Johnny & Associates, also known as Johnny’s. Other idol groups associated with the talent agency include Hey! Say! JUMP. Actors associated with the agency include Takuya Kimura.
SixTONES previous work include the opening for The Millionaire Detective Balance: Unlimited. You can listen to that track below to get a feeling for how the opening song of Yashahime may potentially sound.
It was previously announced that Japanese singer Uru would be responsible for the ending song of Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon.
Yashahime will star the twin daughters of Sesshomaru and the daughter of Inuyasha and Kagome. The latest trailer for Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon included a look at these new characters and some of the returning cast. Kaoru Wada will return to compose the music for Yasahime and Katsuyuki Sumisawa will be responsible for writing the series.
Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon will begin broadcasting in Japan on October 3, 2020. Viz Media will be handling the North American and Latin American region release.
