Yakuza 0 has a launch date. People in North America and Europe will be able to grab a digital or physical copy of the PlayStation 4 game on January 24, 2017. In addition, an official website has been launched.
In Yakuza 0, players are following Kazuma Kiryu in his prime. It’s 1988, he’s only 20 years old, and active within the Tojo Clan’s Dojima Family. He finds himself accused of murdering a man he collected a Dojima family debt from. He must clear his name. We’ll also follow Goro Majima, as he attempts to complete tasks set by his bosses so he can rejoin the Shimano family. Naturally, there will also be time for slice-of-life activities like visiting Disco Halls or participating in Pocket Circuit car races.
Sega also announced some localization changes that will appear in Yakuza 0 on the PlayStation Blog. Instead of kanji subtitles, all titles, introductions, names, and on-screen directions will be translated into English. This hasn’t been offered since Yakuza 2. General-use honorifics will also remain in the English translation, to help players understand characters’ statuses, roles, and relation to one another.
Yakuza 0 was released on PlayStation 4s in Japan on March 12, 2015.
