According to Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Torna – The Golden Country Director Tetsuya Takahashi, the game and DLC have done far better than he expected, especially in North America and Europe. (Thanks, USGamer!)
In a phone interview, Takahashi stated that he and Monolith Soft “really saw more people pick the game up and experience it in the North American and European territories” than they thought. Although the Torna DLC hasn’t been out long, Takahashi says that sales in Japan are exceeding expectations as well.
What does this mean for the Xenoblade Chronicles series? Takahashi doesn’t have an answer to give at the moment. He stated that both a fantasy setting like Xenoblade Chronicles or something in the vein of Xenoblade Chronicles X are possible, as well as “a third option”.
“I’m someone who gets bored of whatever it was I did last. If the series continues, you just might see it take a third option. It might go down a path it hasn’t gone down before,” said Takahashi.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is available for Nintendo Switch. Torna- The Golden Country is available for those with the Expansion Pass and is also being sold as a stand-alone retail game.
