By now you’re probably heard that Microsoft and Old Spice are going to be giving away prizes to players who add 1500 points to their gamerscore between February 12 and April 12, 2007.
Reward Package Qualifications:
Level 1 (Gamers who have an annual gamerscore between 0-4,999 at time of entry): Game Picture, Dashboard theme, Contra for Xbox LIVE Arcade
Level 2 (5,000-9,999 annual gamerscore): Level 1 Package, 100 Microsoft Points and a contest T-shirt
Level 3 (10,000+ annual gamerscore): Level 1 Package, 200 Microsoft Points, contest T-shirt and Fusion Frenzy 2
In addition, Old Spice will give Level 1 and 2 the gift of experience by upgrading their Rewards Level for 2007.
It’s the first Xbox Live Rewards package announced and if you have 10K+ on your gamerscore you want to grab that free copy of Fuzion Frenzy. Even if you’re a level 1 gamer a free copy of Contra isn’t too shabby. But how are you going to do it after logging easy points from King Kong and Kameo: Elements of Power in your total gamerscore? Here are some quick ways to boost your score by 1,500 points.
Ninety Nine Nights
You can easily get 500 points by beating each character’s scenario. This will take only take a couple of hours of hacking and slashing. Then there is an extra hundred points to net if you beat the King of Nights with Inphyy. This can be a little tricky and you might need to raise her level to 9 to get the Seraph Butterfly technique. The other 400 points are obtained by leveling ALL of the characters up to 9 and getting at least an A rank on each mission. Getting the characters to level 9 isn’t that difficult, but it’s a grind.
Lego Star Wars II
Completing all of the eighteen levels and the introductory level is an easy way to get 170 points. You can also earn an additional 360 points by not losing a life in each level, which isn’t too difficult to do. While you’re battling lego storm troopers you will probably pick up extra achievements by getting the game up to 60% complete, which means an extra 120 gamerscore points. The rest of the points can be earned by completing the bounty hunter missions (10 for 40 gamerscore points), beating the Lego City level (50 points) and getting the game 100% complete.
Eragon
King Kong was the first game where players could easily rack up 1,000 points by just completing the game. Eragon isn’t nearly as easy as King Kong because you have to complete it twice to earn 900 achievement points, once in normal (worth 360 points) and once in hard (worth 540 points). However, the game only takes around five hours to complete, so you can rent this for a quick boost. The final 100 points is earned by finding all of the secret eggs in the levels.
College Hoops 2K6
This is probably the easiest way to boost your score by an extra 1,000 points. There are only five achievements to earn: make 15 3-pointers (250), get 20 steals in a game (150), complete 45 rebounds (200), block six shots (150) and scoring 40 points in a game (250).
Fuzion Frenzy 2
I left this one last because it might be counterintuitive to pick up Fuzion Frenzy 2 when you’re trying to get a free copy of it, but you the 1000 gamerscore points are so easy to earn. The first 325 points are earned by beating the tournament mode with each character. Just set the number of planets to two and the CPU to easy to breeze through this. Once you beat tournament mode with everyone you will get an additional 150 points for unlocking all of the mini games. Set up a custom game with all of the mini games you missed to earn an additional 200 points (150 for playing all of the mini games and 50 for winning a custom game). The rest of the 325 points are earned by playing online. Beating ten online mini game frenzies add 125 points to your gamerscore and you can play a custom game with a single round to quickly earn 100 points. The final 100 might take some time, you have to win an online tournament, but if you’ve earned the first 900 you shouldn’t have too much of a problem winning a tournament against four players.
If you want to earn the freebies wait until February 12 to add points to your gamerscore. Points before February 12 only count towards your level and not towards the promotion. Good luck!
