The Game Room itself is a free download. Virtual arcade cabinets, complete with their original cover art costs 240 Microsoft Points ($3) a piece for one platform, 400 Microsoft Points ($5) if you want to play them on you Xbox 360 and PC.

Alternatively, you don’t have to buy games. Similar to a classic arcade you can pay to play games with Microsoft Points. 40 MSP, the equivalent of two quarters, lets you play one game. Kind of pricey for one game of Centipede, but I suppose that’s the “true” arcade experience. When you visit a friend’s game room everything they purchased is playable for free. Game Room titles have achievements to collect, universal leaderboards, and online play over Xbox Live.

Game Room will launch on Xbox 360 and PCs this spring with 30 titles from Atari, Activision, Konami, and Intellivision. Centipede and Asteroids Deluxe on the launch list. Additional arcade games will be introduced each week after launch.
