New Realms are available right now by the time you are reading this in World of Warcraft Classic. These new servers are available as part of the 20th Anniversary. They are fresh so you can make a new character and be on an even playing field. The question remains, though: will there be World of Warcraft Classic refresh server progression?
Will There Be Server Progression in the New 20th Anniversary Realms?
It is worth noting that, yes, there will be server progression for the new Realms that are coming out in celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the MMORPG. However, there is a bit of catch when it comes to this situation. Not all of the servers will have server progression, at least fully. In addition, the server progression between some of them will work a bit differently.
How the World of Warcraft Classic Refresh Server Progression Works
Server progression is essentially where the Realm is updated with new content on a regular schedule. This could include new raids or even progress the world to include later expansions like The Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, and so on. The World of Warcraft Classic refresh Realms will mostly include server progression, depending on its type.
In general, there are three types of worlds you need to know about: PvE, PvP, and Hardcore. PvE and PvP pretty much work exactly the same when it comes to server progression. They will progress through the various bits of content in the vanilla experience, but also eventually expand to The Burning Crusade later down the line.
Hardcore, on the other hand, will only get some server progression content. It will get the vanilla raids like Molten Core but no future expansions. In addition, Hardcore servers will also not have PvP Battlegrounds and Battlemasters content.
World of Warcraft Classic is available right now for PC. There are new 20th Anniversary Realms to join starting on November 21, 2024.
