Remember when Pokemon Battle Revolution had the option to use the DS as a controller? That was a neat use of connective technology and developers seemed to forget about it. Educational software creator, IE Institute didn’t.
IE Institute? You probably don’t recall the name because their entire library is similar to their DS Study brand. These are more like electronic workbooks than proper games. Their first Wii title comes out on July 31 and 250 Mannin no Kanken Wii de Tokoton Kanji Nou (loosely: 2,500,000 Kanji Questions Complete Kanji Memory on Wii) is a kanji training “game”. Writing kanji can be complicated. The thought of writing multi-stroke kanji with the remote is needlessly complicated. IE Institute appears to agree because they give DS/Wii owners an opportunity to use the touch screen to input characters. I suppose this wasn’t a difficult feat for the small publisher since they created a DS version of this last November. Still, it’s notable considering the lack of use the DS has gotten as an alternate controller for Wii games.
