Who Is the Hololive Vtuber Ookami Mio?

Cover announced in May 2024 that the Japanese Hololive Vtuber Ookami Mio is on a break and is hospitalized for a condition. However, people may wonder who she is and why this is such big news. She’s one of the more established members of the companies, as well as a prominently featured one.

Who is Ookami Mio?

Ookami Mio has been a Hololive Vtuber since December 2018. She’s a part of the Hololive Gamers unit alongside Inugami Korone, Nekomata Okayu, and Shirakami Fubuki. Like how Korone and Okayu end up paired up, she’s likewise paired with Fubuki often. Her background is that she has wolf elements to her, as all of the members in that unit have animal traits. 

Mio is quite a popular Vtuber! She’s passed one million subscribers on her YouTube channel and one million followers on Twitter. 

She often has a Morning Mio “show” involving announcements. Some of her most recently played games in 2024 include Persona 3 Reloadand We Were Herewith Fubuki. She also co-streamed the Metaphor Re:Fantazio April 2024 showcase. One of her last streams prior to her hospitalization happened on April 27, 2024 and was a karaoke one.

Mio is also an accomplished singer. In addition to covers and collabs with fellow Hololive Vtubers, the first Ookami Mio album Night Walk released in December 2023. Her last cover appeared in April 2024 and was of the Kanaria and Gumi song “King.”

As a result of her longevity and popularity, Mio also sometimes ends up in other Hololive-related projects. For example, she was one of the stars of the Hololive Alternative Holonometria Holoearth Chronicles manga.

What is happening while Ookami Mio is on a break?

Well, as Cover’s announcement confirmed, her scheduled appearances were canceled. She was going to sing and perform at Hololive Gamers Fes and Music Verse Fes. Obviously, she won’t so she can prioritize her health and recover. In her place, Tsunomaki Watame will be performing instead at Music Verse Fes. Watame is also well known for her singing and performances.

However, Mio will still be appearing in some form during the recovery process. She is one of the four Hololive Vtubers in the third Valkyrie Connect event. She released a promotional video for it ahead of her hospitalization.
