Who Are the Imposters in WoW: A Surprising Investigation?

World of Warcraft’s Guest Relations storyline comes to its exciting conclusion in “A Surprising Investigation,” which tasks you with finding imposters, distributing letters, and discovering a surprising twist at the end.

World of Warcraft: All imposters in A Surprising Investigation

Once you’ve completed Buried Tweasure, talk to Alyx to receive “Festive Reflections,” who asks us to speak with our good friend, Athelton Jones. Speak with Detective Jones to begin ” A Surprising Investigation.”

The imposters needed to complete “A Surprising Investigation” are variants of familiar characters outside their regular locations. Keep reading to find all five imposters, or simply copy-paste the following coordinates into the TomTom AddOn:

Maru

The first imposter is Maru, who can be found outside of the tunnel in the Pet Corner.

Lorewalker Cho

Next up is Lorewalker Cho, relaxing by the ice rink next to Detective Ace. He had already run away by the time I took the above screenshot, but he will be in front of where my character is standing for you.

Big Kinook

The third imposter is Big Kinook, who’s standing next to the Relic Coffer Key vendors near the mole machine. Our soup-making friend towers over the dark iron dwarves, making him easy to spot.

Reshad

Head to the Fashion Frenzy stage to find Reshad. If you’re looking for something to do after this quest, the real Reshad near the storyteller Stage has an anniversary side quest.

The final imposter is Jepetto Joybuzz, standing behind the benches at the Storyteller Stage.

A Surprising Investigation: How to distribute letters

Once you’ve found all five imposters, return to Athelton Jones to begin the next part of “A Surprising Investigation.” Jones asks you to distribute ten letters to visitors. To do this, walk around the 20th Anniversary area and look for sparkling NPCs, then click the “Letters” at the side of the screen and aim at their location.

There are no specific characters you need to deliver letters to, so click on any ten sparkling NPCs nearest to you. After you’ve finished throwing letters at people, return to Jones, who asks you to hunt down a “lucky feast.”

A Surprising Investigation: How to obtain the Lucky Feast

Fly to Bonenose at the tiny camp northwest of the Caverns of Time where you completed the earlier pirate quests. Ask him if the food order is ready, and he’ll tell you to travel to Wavestrider Beach.

Travel east further along to beach to a brand-new 20th Anniversary Celebration area, then talk to Athelton Jones for the “Lucky Feast,” which isn’t a feast at all…

Once you’ve spoken to Jones and your surprise has been revealed, talk to Alyx to complete “A Surprising Investigation” and earn the “I Saved the Party and All I Got Were These Lousy Hats” achievement!

This is the final main quest in WoW’s 20th Anniversary Guest Relations storyline, but there are plenty of other secrets with even more rewards waiting for you. Congratulations!
