Which Team to Join in the FFVII Rebirth Costa del Sol Beach Fight

During the climax of the Costa del Sol segment in FFVII Rebirth, Cloud will head to a private beach to face monsters unleashed by Hojo and have a chance to join a team with allies to fight the foes. However, there are two teams to choose from, and which party you pick does make a bit of a difference.

Which team should I join during the FFVII Rebirth Costa del Sol fight?

Once Cloud, Aerith, Tifa, Barret, and Red XIII finally get to the beach in Costa del Sol, they’ll find Hojo is there and using the hooded individuals to start a fight. However, after Cloud heads to the private beach armed with an umbrella, you are given an option to take part on one of two teams for a fight. Tifa and Red XIII are on one side, while Barret and Aerith are on the others.

Well, which team you choose during this FFVII Rebirth Costa del Sol fight prompted by Hojo comes down to two factors. The first thing to consider is which characters you want Cloud to build a closer relationship with in the game. However, I’d say the more important matter is who you feel more comfortable using in a boss fight. This is because while the initial fight will be against enemies like Shriekers and Necrotic Entities, the second part will be a boss fight against Hojo’s people-abducting Grasptropod machine.

As you’d imagine, choosing the Barret and Aerith team will make the two of them like Cloud more. Likewise, picking the same team as Tifa and Red XIII boosts your relationship with the two of them.

When it comes to the the boss fight, this is a situation where I’d say go with people you are most comfortable with. While this is a real fight, there’s also a scripted element to it. The gimmick of the boss “stealing away” the two characters on the team you didn’t pick carries over. So when choosing the Barret and Aerith team, Aerith will first be stolen away. After that, Barret will go too. So eventually Cloud will end up facing the alone with Yuffie by his side.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is available on the PS5, with the exclusivity arrangement ending on May 29, 2024.
