Which Lies of P Combat Style Should You Pick

Lies of P, while mostly following a singular design philosophy that apes from FromSoftware’s Sekiro and Bloodborne, offers players a choice in the beginning of the game. That being, to pick a Path. A total of three Paths exist in Lies of P, these being the Path of the Cricket, the Path of the Bastard, and the Path of the Sweeper. Each of these Paths feature their own unique benefits, as short-lived as they are. But they can get you on the right path depending on your playstyle. This guide will provide advice on what combat style you should pick in Lies of P.

Which Lies of P Combat Style Should You Pick

Much like Dark Souls and Bloodborne, Lies of P allows you to pick from several preset character builds. These are generally defined by what stats will be distributed to the build you pick and have no impact on the story whatsoever. That said, if you want to build more quickly around a specific weapon type or weapon, you should the Paths more carefully. Below we have listed what stats each Path starts with, along with a brief blurb as to what playstyle they most suit.

Path of the Cricket: Balance

Path of the Cricket: Balance is everything it suggests. This Path will start you out with a fairly even distribution of stats, and should only be considered if you really want to tailor to a specific playstyle that requires you to dump your stats into two attributes. It gives the most flexibility in terms of early game stats, but since Lies of P really only offers two types of playstyles, the Path of the Cricket feels unnecessary.

Below are the stats for Path of the Cricket:

  • Vitality – 9
  • Vigor – 7
  • Capacity – 8
  • Motivity – 9
  • Technique – 9
  • Advance – 7

Path of the Bastard: Dexterity

If you are a player who enjoys more fast-paced gameplay and will attempt to use the dodge to the best of your ability, Path of the Bastard: Dexterity is for you. This Path is suited for players who are more or less focused on not getting hit and will make ample use of the dodge and sprint. Weapons favored for this include the rapier you start the game with, and other weapons that focus on having a high Dexterity.

Below are the stats for the Path of the Bastard:

  • Vitality – 8
  • Vigor – 12
  • Capacity – 7
  • Motivity – 5
  • Technique – 11
  • Advance – 6

Path of the Sweeper: Strength

Just as straightforward as Path of the Bastard, Path of the Sweeper: Strength is for those that are more interested in guarding attacks and trading. Trading in Lies of P functions similarly to Bloodborne, where you will take damage that can then be regained as HP if you attack quickly enough afterwards. The reason this Path is better than Path of the Bastard is that Strength weapons deal way more damage and you can earn that HP back in sizable chunks. This is arguably the best Path if you want to play Lies of P as intended.

Below are the stats for the Path of the Sweeper:

  • Vitality – 11
  • Vigor – 5
  • Capacity – 11
  • Motivity – 11
  • Technique – 5
  • Advance – 6

Lies of P is immediately available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
