Where to Get and How to Use a Glamour Prism in FFXIV

Final Fantasy XIV has tons of different clothing items and options available to the player, so it’s understandable if players want to wear that Alpine Coat in the middle of a dungeon. To do this without sacrificing stats, you’ll need a FFXIV Glamour Prism. Here’s how to get one.

How to get a Glamour Prism

There are two main ways to get a Glamour Prism in this MMORPG. The first one is to craft it yourself. For this, you need to have a crafting class of any kind except Culinarian. Sorry, Culinarian fans. You could have a Goldsmith, Weaver, Blacksmith, etc. They all have the Glamour Prism crafting recipe at level 15. All of the recipes require a Clear Prism and an item specific to the class, such as Walnut Lumber for Carpenter, Steel Ingot for Blacksmith, and so on.

The other option is to buy the Glamour Prism from someone else. This is by far the much easier way these days, especially since these Prisms are fairly cheap on the market board. You can often buy them for a couple hundred Gil at best and up to a couple thousand, depending on your world. But with cross-world travel, it is possible to travel somewhere else for free and buy these for the cheapest price possible.

How to use a Glamour Prism in FFXIV

Once you have some Glamour Prisms in FFXIV, there are two ways to use them. The first is the older way, where you go to a clothing item you want to cast a glamour on (aka change its appearance to this) and right-click on it. Choose to “cast glamour” and then pick the correct other item you want to change the appearance of. This will consume a single prism.

The other way, which is by far the preferred way these days, is to head to the inn in any major city, such as Ul’dah, Limsa Lominsa, and Gridania. Head to the Glamour Chest and place any items you will never use again in battle into it. Each item costs a single Glamour Prism to place there. From then on, you can create glamour outfits and costumes and change the appearance of any item anytime without spending another prism on it.

Final Fantasy XIV is available for PS4, PS5, and PC. It will also come out for Xbox Series X/S in February 2024 in open beta.
