Where to Find the Sharran Sanctuary in Baldur’s Gate 3

Baldur’s Gate 3 offers a plethora of areas the player can explore, either due to story significance or as an optional dungeon full of treasure. One of these areas in Baldur’s Gate 3 is the Sharran Sanctuary. While you do not need to go there, doing so you will net yourself a unique weapon, further Shadowheart’s personal companion quest, and have a useful ally during your fight with Kethric Thorm. However, the Sharran Sanctuary cannot be accessed in the first zone of the game.

Where to Find the Sharran Sanctuary in Baldur’s Gate 3

In order to reach the Sharran Sanctuary, you must travel either through the Underdark or the Mountain Pass to reach the next area and begin Act 2 of Baldur’s Gate 3. You will know when you are about to travel there because you will get a pop-up warning that you are about to enter the new zone. Keep in mind that entering the next area will progress the Tiefling storyline, so make sure to tie-up any loose ends (like rescuing Halsin or aiding the goblins) before continuing.

From there, you will enter this new area, and with it come across a certain challenge while traversing these shadow-cursed lands. Thankfully, you can cast a Light spell on yourself, or an item, use a torch or even acquire a Moon Lantern to get through the area unimpeded. The Sharran Sanctuary will be located in the north west corner of the map.

Outside of Shadowheart’s quest, this area will also be marked for more Infernal Iron. This is also needed to progress Karlach’s quest if you want to romance her or greatly gain her affinity for the player character. Now, upon going to the area that the Sharran Sanctuary is located, you will have another run-in with Gabriel, which means you have the chance to boost your affinity with Astarion as well.

Entering these crypts will force you to solve a puzzle in order to get into the Sharran Sanctuary properly. You will want to click the buttons beneath the painting in the final room in this order:

• Guilt
• Moonrise Towers
• Kethric Thorm

From there, a secret passage will open, granting you access to the Sharran Sanctuary in Baldur’s Gate 3.
