Where to Find The Dragons of Nightmare During WoW 20th Anniversary Event

The 20th Anniversary Event in World of Warcraft is here! Players can join the festivities by participating in various activities, ranging from timewalking to classic dungeons to uncovering new secrets and easter eggs. To celebrate, infamous world bosses are roaming Azeroth ‘round the clock for players to defeat, some with special mount drops players can farm for. Among these bosses for the WoW 20th anniversary event are the Dragons of Nightmare, the Dragonkin from the Emerald Nightmare. Each dragon is located in a different part of Azeroth. The list of every Dragon of Nightmare you can find during the event is as follows:

  • Emeriss
  • Lethon
  • Taerar
  • Ysondre

If you’re achievement hunting, you might want to defeat them as soon as you can. Defeating one of the dragons during the anniversary event unlocks the “An Original” achievement, but defeating them all is required to unlock “The Originals” achievement. Here’s a brief explanation of where to find the Dragons of Nightmare during the WoW 20th Anniversary Event.

Where to Find Emeriss and the Dragons of Nightmare During the WoW 20th Anniversary Event

Emeriss- if you so choose to suffer through the fight- can be found in the dead center of Duskwood, which is north of Stranglethorn Vale. This dragon stands within the Twilight Grove, a circular area in Duskwood marked by mountains on your map. As a Horde player, you can get there from the Grom’Gol base camp in Stranglethorn Vale. From there, follow the road North until you enter Duskwood. The entrance to Twilight Grove isn’t marked on your map. Instead, head East at the fork in the road and take the first left onto the dirt road. As an Alliance player, fly to the Raven Hill flight master in Duskwood and head east along the main road. Once you reach the intersection, continue on East and take that same left onto the dirt road. Follow this road through the mountains and Emeriss will be waiting in front of the portal.

Lethon is hanging out in The Hinterlands. Head to Seradane, the northeastern area of the Hinterlands map. As a Horde player, you can fly to Raventusk Village and make your North along the road up to Seradane. Alliance players are in luck; the Stormfeather Outpost flight path is just South of where this boss spawns. Keep going North past Skull Rock and cross the wooden bridge. When you see the portal, you’ll know you’re in the right place. Lethon should spawn in front of this portal.

Where to Find Taerar During the WoW 20th Anniversary Event

Taerar can be found in Ashvenvale, north of the Barrens in Kalimdor. Once there, head to the Northeast tip of the region. On your map, in an area labeled “Bough Shadow,” Taerar will be waiting. The fastest way to get there is to fly to Splintertree Post if you’re a Horde character, or to Forest Song if you’re an Alliance character. From either of these points, follow the main road all the way Northeast until you see the bridge leading to Azshara. Taerar will be on your left-hand side if you’re facing the bridge, and it’ll be standing in front of a large portal. You should be able to see it from the road.

Where to Find Ysondre During the WoW 20th Anniversary Event

Ysondre can be found in northern Feralas, standing in front of- you guessed it- a portal nestled inside the Twin Colossals area. Both Horde and Alliance players should have an easy time getting to this world boss. As a Horde player, head North along the road from the Camp Ataya flight path, and go South at the fork. If you look to your left, you should be able to see the portal before you even get to the point in the road leading into the area. Make the slight left at the next fork, and follow the path towards the portal. If you’re an Alliance player, this is even easier. Take the Dreamers’ Rest flight path, and it’ll leave you directly in front of the portal. Ysondre should be standing across the river.

If you don’t see the dragon you’re searching for, give it a minute or two to see if it spawns. Other players may have engaged the boss before you arrived, but the respawn timer is pretty quick. If it doesn’t spawn, you may need to come back another day. The dragon world bosses seem to be on a daily rotation. Speaking of which, you can only loot the world bosses once a day, so don’t waste your time trying to farm them repeatedly- unless you’d like to help your fellow players out. While you wait for daily reset, consider engaging the other world bosses instead! There’s plenty to do during WoW’s 20th Anniversary. Why not try completing the Codex of Chromie scenario? During the event, you’ll earn quite a few Timewarped Badges. If you want to use those, it may help to know where the Classic Timewalking vendor is.

World of Warcraft, and The War Within expansion, are available for PC.
