Beacons are craftable items you can make in Moonstone Island. Despite being listed on the Moonstone Enchanter, they are initially locked out, requiring a bit of work to obtain. However, players may be wondering where to find the rare item, as they are needed in one of the game’s major areas.
What are Beacons in Moonstone Island?
Beacons aren’t required to beat the game under normal circumstances, but they can be incredibly useful. They are portable location markers that add a beacon to your map when placed. The feature easily allows you to find a location you have marked again.
They’re best used when island hopping if you find an area rich in resources that you want to come back to later. The only time they’re required for progression is in the Electric Temple. A Beacon is one of the items you must offer to the altars within to open the route to the boss.
Where do you find the Beacon recipe in Moonstone Island?
The key to unlocking the Beacon recipe in Moonstone Island is Zed. Many of his quests unlock essential items, such as the Spirit Barn. So it’s not surprising that he is also the one who hands you the Beacon recipe as well. The quest you need to complete to unlock Beacons is his Matchmaker Request. This mission type requires you to find a specific Spirit of a villager on the island.
In Zed’s case, he would like a Spirit that looks like a robot. The Spirit he’s looking for is an Armbot found on Electric islands. This is a metallic spirit with noodly limbs and a single eye in the center of its chest and/or head. If you can’t find one on the surface of an island, you may need to dig around in the mines, which is where I personally found one.
You may also need to take a protective charm with you while exploring the Electrified areas, as you will need to deal with lightning strikes. After you’ve tamed an Armbot, return home and put it in your Medallion if it isn’t already. Take it back to Zed and give him the Spirit. He’ll then reward you with the Beacon recipe.
How do you craft a Beacon in Moonstone Island?
Once you’ve obtained the required recipe, assembling a Beacon is simple. You only need 3 Iron Ingots and a single Moonstone. Iron Ingots are made using a Furnace, and you can also find Moonstones hidden around the various islands or in chests. If you went into a mine on an Electric island to get Armbot, there’s a chance you’ll already have what you need.
Once you have the ingredients, head to your Moonstone Enchanter (or build one from the crafting menu if you haven’t already) and select the recipe to get your Beacon. Placing a Beacon is no different from placing other furniture. Simply highlight it in your quick select menu, then place it as you would any other item. You can even change the color, but this must be done before you place it.
Moonstone Island is available now for PC. A Nintendo Switch version is currently in development.
