How to Get Phalar Aluve in BG3 – Exact Location

To obtain the Phalar Aluve sword for yourself, all you need to do is progress through the game until you reach the Underdark. Once you get here, you want to head for the Underdark Beach Waypoint.

From there, you want to head east until you find an altar pedestal at around the coordinates of X: 116, Y: -191 on the map, as seen in the screenshot below. It is also just northwest of the Selunite Outpost.

The Phalar Aluve is stuck in the pedestal and must be removed Excalibur-style. There are a few different ways to pull the Phalar Aluve sword from the pedestal, and here are all of them:

  • Pass a 15 Strength check (have 15 Strength or higher on your character)
  • Pass a 15 Religion check to find out what is going on with the sword
  • Be a Cleric of Eilistraee and get it easily
  • If you’re a Paladin, you can do a 10 Religion check to find out the truth and do the ritual to remove it
  • Use an item like a ritual dagger to release blood onto the pedestal to let the sword go

Best Class for Phalar Aluve BG3

No matter what method you use, the Phalar Aluve is one of the most powerful swords in BG3 for certain classes. It has solid slashing damage and the ability to sing or shriek to buff or nerf allies or enemies. This makes it a game-changer in boosting the party’s stats. In addition, it gives you +1 to your Performance stat.

When it comes to the best classes, I recommend the following three for using the Phalar Aluve: Paladin, Cleric, and Bard. However, you will have to manually teach the latter two how to use longswords through feats. If you do, you will be the epitome of being able to deal solid damage. And at the same time, you’ll be the ultimate support for the party.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is available now for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
