Reaching the end-game in Diablo 4 is about unlocking the progressively harder Torment difficulties. In Torment, players can collect boss-summoning materials in order to summon and fight Torment versions of Diablo 4 bosses. These are colloquially known as “Uber” bosses. A large part of Diablo 4’s end-game involves fighting these bosses, which drop materials to summon even harder bosses, who drop specific Unique-rarity gear when defeated. These uniques are essential to many powerful character builds. You’ll have to fight these bosses multiple times in hopes of getting a powerful version of these uniques at higher Torment difficulties. One of the bosses you’ll no doubt need to farm is Duriel, Maggot King. Here’s a quick guide on where to find Duriel in Diablo 4, and how to summon him.
Where to Find Uber Duriel in Diablo 4
Duriel can be found in the Gaping Crevasse. The fastest way to the Gaping Crevasse is to teleport to the Gea Kul waypoint and head southeast out of the town. You’ll eventually run into the dungeon by following this path. If you can’t find it, the map below has it circled for you. The dungeon itself isn’t very large. A few enemies will block the short path to the only room, where a summoning altar awaits.
How to Summon Uber Duriel in Diablo 4
Before you can summon Duriel, you’ll need two Mucus-Slick Eggs and two Shards of Agony. These items are collected from other bosses, which need their own specific items to be summoned at specific locations. Mucus-Slick Eggs are dropped by Varshan in the Malignant Burrow on Torment difficulty. The Malignant Burrow is the dungeon right next to the Tree of Whispers. In order to summon Varshan you’ll need four Malignant Hearts. Tree of Whispers caches, Undercity runs, and Elite monsters all drop Malignant Hearts on Torment difficulty.
Shards of Agony are dropped by Grigoire in the Hall of the Penitent on- you guessed it- Torment difficulty. You can get to the Hall of the Penitent dungeon by heading Southwest out of Ked Bardu, crossing the bridge, and then going Southeast. To summon Grigoire, you’ll need twelve Living Steels. You can collect Living Steel the same way as Malignant Hearts. You can also find them in Helltide chests.
Once you’ve collected the necessary materials, head to the Gaping Crevasse and summon Duriel to your heart’s content! Unlocking Torment difficulty is the main prerequisite to fighting any of these bosses. For help on unlocking Torment, check out Where to Find The Pit in Diablo 4.
