To get through the swamps, you need to get yourself a Chocobo in FFVII Rebirth, and that means finding Piko for Billy. You’ll need to track the missing bird down though in Chapter 2, so here’s how to get on its trail.
Where can I find Piko the Chocobo in FFVII Rebirth?
After talking to Billy and his sister Chloe to find out about the missing bird, you’ll get some Gysahl Greens for him and sent out to trace his tracks. The Main Scenario mission at this point is even flat out called “Tracing the Tracks.”
Head out from the ranch. There are some roads around here. You’ll see a few feathers on the ground right outside the gate, but won’t see any tracks immediately. What you want to do is head down this road, which I circled in the screenshot on the map below. You’ll start seeing tracks and feathers, which I highlighted in the image next to it, on the ground here.
Basically, continue down this road. You’ll eventually see a meadow with some Chocobos and an event will trigger. Here’s the map where Piko the Chocobo will finally be found in FFVII Rebirth.
From here, you’ll need to sneak up on the bird. Hide in the grass from the other two Chocobos and roll to other grassy patches when they aren’t turned facing your direction. Once you get to Piko, pick up one of the nearby rocks, throw it so the bird turns to the side, then quickly roll and show up behind it.
Now you’ll be able to head back to the ranch! After a brief minigame that shows you the controls, you’ll be able to press R1 on the grasslands to summon Piko for a ride!
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is available on the PS5, with the exclusivity arrangement ending on May 29, 2024.
