Astro Bot is full of references to PlayStation characters, including those from third-party franchises such as Metal Gear. Fortunately, Kojima fans won’t have to wait long to find Solid Snake and his crew, as they appear quite early in the title. They can all be found in the Creamy Canyon level, which is unlocked as one of the first two worlds available to you after completing Sky Garden.
Where do I find Solid Snake (Legendary Mercenary) in Astro Bot?
Unsurprisingly, the first Metal Gear character you’ll encounter in Astro Bot is the famous Solid Snake. He can be found right at the start of the level, after landing your ship. There are two trees in front of you, and Snake can be found hanging from the one on the left.
To free him, simply whack the tree to make him drop to the ground, then hit him again to add him to your crew.
Where do I find Psycho Mantis (Psychic Menace)?
Next to Snake, you’ll be able to knock a ladybug robot into a hole in the floor to use as a trampoline to the higher platform. Immediately, you’ll see a Psycho Mantis bot ahead of you. However, when you get close, he’ll be captured by a nearby flying saucer and flown away. In order to catch him, you need to chase it down.
Follow the path, taking out a couple of enemies and hopping across two precarious ice platforms. Then you need to use another ladybug robot to bounce to the higher platform where the flying saucer is now circling. There’s another ladybug robot here, so you’ll need to whack it, then time your bounce from it so you can knock the saucer out of the air. This will instantly add Psycho Mantis to your team.
Where do I find Gray Fox (Mystery Ninja)?
Gray Fox is the most hidden of the Metal Gear characters in Astro Bot. After finding Psycho Mantis, you’ll have to break some ice to progress. After throwing a pig into an ice wall, you’ll encounter a ladybug robot on an icy path. Once you hit it, it’ll slide along, breaking the ice ahead of you and opening a path to an area with another ladybug.
Just to the right of where you enter here, there is a snowy rock formation, and just below that, off the edge of the main platform, is a platform with an X-shaped crack. Drop down here, and charge up a punch while standing on the crack to drill into the ground and find a new area.
In this area, you’ll find a lot of ice formations. However, you also have three ladybugs to bash around. Hit them around the area until they break enough ice to free the Gray Fox bot who’s trapped at the top. Once he falls to the ground, interact with him to collect him.
Astro Bot is out now for PS5.
