Where Are the God of War Characters in Astro Bot?

It’s inevitable that among the many PlayStation characters referenced in Astro Bot, a large number of them are from God of War. As one of PlayStation’s biggest franchises, it gets a sizeable chunk of representation with an entire level based on God of War: Ragnarok. And of course, you can find many bots based on the series in that level.

Where to Find Kratos (Dad of Boy) and Atreus (Boy) in Astro Bot

Kratos and Atreus are the only God of War characters in Astro Bot who are not found in the level based on the game. Instead, finding them is what opens the level and gains access to all the other bots.

To find them, you need to complete all the levels of the Tentacle System, allowing you to break the lock on the final boss of this galaxy. You’ll also need to have freed 60 bots to do this. This opens the boss level where you will face off against Wako Tako, a giant octopus bot.

Defeating this boss leaves you in the sea next to a capsized boat. Give the boat a whack and it’ll turn back over to reveal the dad and boy. Kratos will then throw everyone onto the Dual Speeder and you’ll unlock the Bot of War level.

Where to Find Angrboda (Ironwood Jotunn)

From this point on, all God of War characters in Astro Bot can be found within the Bot of War level, where Astro earns the right to wield the Leviathan Axe and fight his way through a Norse inspired level.

Angrboda is one of the first you can find. After Kratos throws Astro the axe, break the door in front of you. In the next area, turn right immediately and you’ll see a crack in the wall. Shuffle through this crack like you’re disguising a loading screen and you’ll find Angrboda.

Where to Find Thrud (Thunder Goddess)

On the opposite side of the area where you find Angrboda, there is a large defeated bot lying in the snow. Next to it there is a block of ice that you can shatter, which reveals a bounce pad. Use it to get on top of the defeated bot to find Thrud.

Where to Find Freya (Valkyrie Queen)

Appropriately, you can find Freya underneath a giant turtle. After using your Leviathan Axe to create a bridge across the water from the previous area, turn right and you’ll see a platform with a giant turtle. Head over there and flip the turtle using the handle on its side and you’ll reveal Freya.

Where to Find Thor (Thunder God)

On the opposite side of where you’ll find Freya, there is another side platform which contains a block of ice and a small pool. Jump over, break the ice and tug the wires to reveal a horn. Blow into the horn (literally, using the DualSense mic) and Jormungandr will appear, and the blocks next to him will become accessible. This will allow you to get on his head, where Thor is hanging out.

Where to Find Mimir (Smartest Man Alive)

Mimir is one of the more hidden God of War characters in Astro Bot. Head through the passage between Thor and Freya’s locations and immediately turn right. You’ll see a bounce pad and a wall. If you throw your axe at this wall, it will break. You’ll need to break a path through three walls here to reach an area with a tree. Defeat the enemies here and a bird will show up carrying a robot head. This is Mimir, so throw your axe at the bird to free him.

Where to Find Brok (Dwarven Blacksmith)

Continue along the level path until you find a puzzle where you have to lift three pillars and freeze them by throwing the axe at the target on the tallest one. Climb up the pillars and immediately turn right to see a drawbridge. Use your axe to knock it down and you’ll find Brok on the other side.

Where to Find Sindri (Dwarven Artisan)

Brok’s brother is a little more hidden. After dropping and crossing the giant axe, you’ll enter a room with four enemies. Defeat three of them, but for the one on the very right, simply throw your axe at it but do not retrieve it yet. This will turn the enemy into an ice block you can use to get onto the low wall behind it. Follow the wall to the left to find a chest. Open it and you’ll find Sindri inside, giving you the last of the God of War characters in Astro Bot.

Astro Bot is out now for PS5.
