What Are Ruin Machines in Genshin Impact?

Ruin Machines take the form of a variety of enemies like Ruin Guards, Ruin Graders, Ruin Scouts, and Ruin Drakes. There are also three Ruin Machine bosses: Ruin Serpent, Aeonblight Drake, and Perpetual Mechanical Array. Ruin Machines tend to drop materials used to ascend weapons. Here is every Ruin Machine, their locations, and their drops.

Ruin Machines are a kind of enemy that can be found throughout Teyvat. They take the form of large robots. They were originally created by Khaenri’ah as machines for war but fell into disrepair after the nation fell. There are several different kinds of Ruin Machines. The most common kind is Ruin Guards, but some are known to fly or dig into the ground.

Below is a list of every Ruin Machine in Genshin Impact:

Ruin Guards

Ruin Guards are the most common kind of Ruin Machines you encounter in Genshin Impact. These machines are able to stomp, clap, leap into the air to slam their fists into the ground, spin their limbs like a top, and shoot missiles when players get too far away.

They have two weak spots: their glowing orange eye and a small glowing circle on their back. By hitting these spots twice with a Charged Attack, they will be deactivated for a short amount of time. The easiest way to do this is by doing Charged Attacks with a bow character.

Ruin Graders

Ruin Graders look like Ruin Guards but are bigger and tougher. The main way you can differentiate them from Ruin Guards is by the Ruin Grader’s silver hands and feet and the large branches growing from their shoulders.

Ruin Graders have the same moves as Ruin Guards but are more powerful and with a few other additions. Their spinning top attack covers a wider AoE, they can charge after players, and they can shoot lasers at players.

Ruin Graders’ weak spot is their glowing eye, but they’re harder to deactivate. They’re generally a lot harder to defeat and hit a lot harder than Ruin Guards, which makes them one of the most annoying enemies to deal with in Genshin.

Ruin Hunters

Ruin Hunters are a kind of flying Ruin Machine that can be found in Liyue, Sumeru, and Inazuma. These enemies mainly shoot lasers and missiles, but they also have some slashing attacks. Their slashing attacks have a long reach and are able to pursue the player over long distances.

Their weak spot is their glowing orange eye. By striking their eye with a Charged Attack, they will come crashing to the ground, deactivated for a short period of time. You can do this by using a bow character to knock them down with their Charged Attack.

Ruin Cruisers are a kind of flying Ruin Machine that’s found in Teyvat, most commonly in Sumeru and Inazuma. They mainly shoot a variety of lasers, either multiple at once or one at a time.

Their weak spot is a glowing orange orb found within its moving plates, which deactivates them for a little bit. The easiest way of doing this is by hitting it with a Charged Attack from a bow character, but it moves around quickly and frequently, making it hard to strike it.

Ruin Destroyers

Ruin Destroyers are a kind of snake-like Ruin Machine that is able to burrow into the ground. They can usually be found in Sumeru. They are able to shoot lasers and burrow into the ground. Their attacks have a wider AoE, usually targeting the ground around them.

Ruin Destroyers’ weak spot can only be hit when they have completely unfolded their face and are shooting a wide laser at the ground. The weak point can be found on the unfolded face.

Ruin Defenders

Ruin Defenders are a kind of crab-like Ruin Machine. They can be found in Inazuma, Sumeru, and Fontaine. Ruin Defenders’ moves mainly focus on protecting itself. You cannot breach its shield, but it does leave its back unguarded.

Unfortunately, it can still move around while doing this, so you’ll have to be quick. It also has a few shield bash attacks and an attack where it leaps into the air to crush you under it. Ruin Defenders have no weak points.

Ruin Scouts

Ruin Scouts are a jellyfish-like Ruin Machine that can float and fly. They are found throughout Teyvat except in Mondstadt and Liyue. Ruin Scouts use a variety of energy attacks. They can discharge energy, summon orbs to target players, and do an energy-charged headbutt.

They can also spin, splaying their tentacles out in a wide AoE. Ruin Scouts’ weak point is the space between the plates on its head. Unfortunately, this is only uncovered during its headbutt attack.

They swing their tail around and charge at you with its large bulk. It’s also able to call down missiles, dealing a huge AoE of damage.

Thankfully, they’re pretty easy to take down. All you need to do is stun them by hitting their large, glowing eye with a charged attack. They are particularly vulnerable during their missile AoE attack.

Ruin Drake: Skywatch

Ruin Drake: Skywatch closely resembles Ruin Drake: Earthguard, except it can fly. They are also found everywhere in Teyvat. While it’s on the ground, it can swing its tail around. While in flight, it hits you with a variety of missile attacks.

Some of these missile attacks target the player as they move around. It has a lot of weak points. Chief among them is its eye, but it also has weak spots on its wings when it’s in flight. There’s also one on its chest.
