With it being years since Kratos has appeared in the Fortnite Shop, many players are wondering when the God of War protagonist will be available again in the Battle Royale. Here is everything we know so far about when Kratos is coming back to Fortnite.
Will Kratos return in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2?
Originally released in 2020, the Fortnite Kratos skin has not been available to players since March 2021. Yep, that is over 1,000 days ago! With Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 being called Myths & Mortals, many players believed that the God of War would surely make his return. After all, the latest season literally features Greek Gods such as Zeus and Hades.
According to prominent dataminers such as Hypex, Epic Games has recently added the Kratos Bundle to the Fortnite Shop’s API as of March 26, 2024. This means the return of Kratos could be imminent in Fortnite Chapter 5, Season 2. At the very least, it shows the developer has prepped the release of the Sony Mascot, and his iconic items such as his iconic Leviathan Axe, and Mimir backpack.
In the last year, however, Epic Games has a history of adding skins to the Fortnite API without bringing them back. For instance, it was believed that Attack on Titan was set to return in Chapter 5 Season 1, yet the popular anime bundle never showed up in the Fortnite shop. And as of April 2024, it now seems unlikely the Hajime Isayama characters will make an appearance soon.
When will Kratos be available in the Fortnite shop?
As stated above, it’s hard to pin down an exact time window, given how random Epic Games has been handling the Fortnite shop lately. The Avatar the Last Airbender Aang Fortnite crossover event will launch on April 12. So it seems unlikely that the God of War bundle will be released during that week.
With Fortnite Chapter 5 Season ending on May 24, 2024, here are the dates Kratos could return:
- April 8, 2024 (Before the Avatar the Last Airbender week kicks off)
- April 20 (God of War has its anniversary on this date so maybe Epic is holding it for this)
- April 21 through May 24, 2024.
Interestingly, popular dataminer HypeX also theorized that the Kratos Fortnite skin could come back on April 20, 2024, due it to being the 5th anniversary of God of War. That would make sense, and perhaps Epic Games is specifically waiting to line it up with that special date.
If Kratos does not come back to Fortnite by the end of Chapter 5 Season 2, then it’s unlikely the God of War protagonist will be added to the shop anytime soon. However, it needs to be repeated that Epic Games has really been unpredictable with how it’s been handling the Fortnite shop since December 2023. So anything is possible.
But given that the Kratos bundle has recently been added to the game’s API, and Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 is literally themed around Greek Mythology and Gods – it would just seem unbelievable if they didn’t bring the Sony mascot back this year. The timing has never been better.
Fortnite is available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, mobile and PC.
