After Sony Computer Entertainment showed off Uncharted and Hot Shots Golf Next, third party developers took the stage at PlayStation Meeting 2011 to talk about their plans for NGP.
Capcom
Jun Takeuchi played Monster Hunter Portable 3rd on NGP and showed a realtime rendering demonstration of Lost Planet 2. "MT Framework is Capcom’s gaming engine… and we are getting ready for NGP as well." No titles were announced, but Capcom plans on announcing new games for NGP.
Sega
Toshihiro Nagoshi showed a realtime rendering demo of Yakuza 4 with the PlayStation 3 shaders. Nagoshi is interested in developing for the system’s "networked game experience." No specific titles were announced.
Tecmo Koei
Akihiro Suzuki showed a Warriors game running on NGP where he defeated enemy units by touching them. This concept also had a touch screen musou attack. "Those are all ideas, but we’ll be experimenting with that. I’m sure we’ll be able to develop a title that looks and feels different than in the past."
Konami
Hideo Kojima took the stage with a clip of Metal Gear Solid 4 running on NGP. This was not an announcement of a port, just a demo.
"When we launched Peace Walker for PSP, this is what I said: In the near future there will be a world of cloud computing… I really believe that you can have a portable MGS and Peace Walker was an experiment for the cloud computing future. NGP allows this cloud computing. What I’d like to realize is playing on your PS3, and when you go out, you put the game on your NGP, and when you come back home, you can once again use your PS3 and large screen TV. This dream is going to come true in the near future. And right now, I’m working on this project of the dream. I’m sorry, I can’t reveal this now. But we’d like to present what we’re doing at E3."
Epic Games
Tim Sweeny showed a demo of Unreal Engine 3 on NGP and a game called Dungeon Defenders. "This is made possible by Sony’s multi-core GPU… which is roughly 4x as powerful as any portable we’ve previously seen," and later "We’re very excited and think you’ll be stunned at what’s possible on Sony’s next generation portable platform."
Activision
Philip Earl announced a Call of Duty game for NGP. "We believe that NGP will change the way people play games on the go, and what better way to prove that, than with Call of Duty."
"We believe Call of Duty for NGP will set the bar for the next generation of portable gaming. When considering the OLED screen, dual analog sticks, touch screens, and social connectivity options, the possibilities are endless"
