What is Dragon’s Dogma 2 Max Level Cap?

Most RPG games are bound by a level cap, a point where your character simply stops gaining experience, and those exploring Vermund will find there is an absolute max level players can hit in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

What is the level cap in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

In the original Dragon’s Dogma, players were capped at level 200. It’s a substantial milestone that was already difficult to achieve. However, in Dragon’s Dogma 2 the developers pushed this even further and set the max level cap at a staggering 999. That’s essentially a five times increase!

The Vocations in Dragon’s Dogma 2 have a max level of 10. Your gear and equipment also influence your stats. So, while you and your pawns levels are still very important, they are far from your only source of strategy in character building. Which is good, because reaching level 999 is more of a test of endurance.

Is there a reason I should aim for the max level in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

It’s worth noting that somewhere between level 200 and 300 seems to be the soft cap in Dragon’s Dogma 2. A soft cap signifies a point where further leveling yields diminishing returns, with minimal gains in stats and abilities.

While reaching level 999 may seem like the ultimate achievement, it’s important to consider whether the effort justifies the reward. There doesn’t appear to be a compelling reason to hit the 999 mark aside from personal accomplishment or bragging rights. After the soft cap eventually all stats will sort of level out and there’s a very small difference between say level 600 and level 650.

Even though you do hit the soft wall, it’s always an option to keep on climbing to the max level in Dragon’s Dogma 2. However, for those daring enough to try it, squeezing every drop of experience from Dragon’s Dogma 2 will be essential. No skipping side quests for you if you wanna pull this off.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC.
