What Does SVP Mean in Marvel Rivals

Marvel Rivals has a lot of intricate systems to it, some of which don’t copy directly from its inspiration in games like Overwatch 2. One such feature that is a bit obscure and confusing is the SVP award in Marvel Rivals, which you can often see at the end of matches. Here is what SVP means and how to earn this title.

What Does SVP Stand for in Marvel Rivals?

If you ever see SVP in one of your matches online, it will likely happen at the very end of the match when you are wrapping up and about to return to the lobby. This happens when the final scoreboard is revealed and after the MVP is shown. The SVP is an award that players can get depending on the situation of the match.

SVP stands for “Secondary Valuable Player” and, oddly enough, this isn’t explained by the game at all. As mentioned, only one person will get this award per match.

How Do You Get SVP in a Match?

You can likely infer what SVP is in Marvel Rivals just by knowing that it stands for Secondary Valuable Player. As you probably already know, MVP stands for “Most Valuable Player.” This free-to-play title basically has an award for second place in a way. If your team happens to lose in a match, one of your teammates or you will receive the SVP award.

This is basically like a consolation prize in a way. The game is basically recognizing that SVP winner as the best player on the losing team. As such, you will only see SVP for a player if you are on the losing team in the match. If you happen to be on the winning team, you will, instead, see one of your teammates or yourself get the MVP award.

That said, there is always the possibility that the SVP winner did better than the MVP winner on the winning team. This is possible if, for instance, the SVP winner carried their team but was let down by them, whereas the winning team was more evenly balanced as a group.

Marvel Rivals is available for free right now for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
