Silent Hill has always had difficulty modes, ranging from the more breezy light to the extremely challenging hard. The Silent Hill 2 remake is no exception. So you may be wondering, what difficulty should I play the Silent Hill 2 remake on? Well, we more or less have an answer below.
What Difficulty Should I Play the Silent Hill 2 Remake On?
There is no correct answer to this question. Since the combat and puzzle difficulty do not determine any of the endings for Silent Hill 2, I would suggest playing at whatever difficulty you are most comfortable with. If you’re not keen on combat, I would suggest playing on Light, even if enemies will still deal a reasonable amount of damage to you.
Conversely, if you’re not super big on puzzles, play on the Light difficulty. It won’t solve any of the puzzles for you automatically, but finding their solutions is a lot easier. You will outright find very obvious solutions on notes, scrawled on walls, and just through observation.
If you’re playing on harder difficulties, such as Normal or Hard, then you will have a more difficult time. Enemies will deal more damage, and puzzle solutions will be far less obvious. You will actually need to put things together through context clues, and sometimes just your instinct, to solve specific puzzles.
Thankfully, you can change both difficulties independently of one another. This means if you would rather have more complicated, less obvious puzzles, you can crank up the difficulty but still be able to mostly breeze through encounters. I say mostly, because you will want to use your guns in specific situations outside of boss fights, unlike the original game.
So honestly, do whatever you want! Nothing is stopping you from truly putting James through it, or even yourself.
The Silent Hill 2 is available for the PS5 and Windows PC.
