Special Zombies in MW3 Explained

There are many different types of undead for players to tackle in MW3 Zombies mode. There are the usual forces players will find constantly throughout the open-world map of Urzikstan. However, there are tougher enemies you may eventually come across, known as “Special Zombies.” These are noted for their higher health, unique powers, and higher risk when facing them.

Players can find Special Zombies randomly throughout the world while playing, but the chances increase the further the player goes into the map. The world map has three tiers, and the higher tier you explore, the increased chances you will find Special Zombies in MW3. In addition, players can occasionally find optional contracts that will task them with defeating a marked special zombie for a reward.

All Special Zombies in MW3 Zombies

At this time, there are only a few different types of Special Zombies players can find in MW3 Zombies. Each one has a different visual appearance and style of fighting. Here are the three different special zombies available in the game at this time, and a little bit about each one you should know:

  • Disciples:
    • This is a ghastly special zombie that isn’t the strongest or toughest to beat. However, its core ability comes from healing and even resurrecting its fallen undead. As such, your goal should be to take it out as fast as possible first and then focus on the lesser enemies.
  • Manglers:
    • This annoying special zombie has a massive electrical arm, which lets it use some powerful electrical attacks against the player. Your best option is to fire at its arm to render most of its utility null and void.
  • Mimics:
    • As the name implies, Mimics can pretend to be random objects in the world. When you fire at them, they will summon a swarm of lesser zombies to aid. Your best bet is to aim for the head on this one.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is available right now for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
