Last week, Japan saw a relatively quiet week in video game sales with a few minor releases in Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition, République, and Skullgirls 2nd Encore. Media Create has provided us with video game software and hardware sales data from the week of April 11 through April 17, 2016.

Yo-kai Watch: Romance of the Three Kingdoms finished in top with 41,768 units sold on its third week since making its debut. The game sold more than double that number, but that’s pretty normal considering that it’s not a main-numbered Yo-kai Watch title, not to mention a strategy RPG aimed towards kids. The game will likely hit the 500k milestone in a few more weeks.

Following in #2 is Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 3, which sold 24,489 units this past week. Dark Souls III climbed back to #3 after having sold 8,833 copies, Far Cry Primal finished at #4 with 8,805 copies sold, and Disney Art Academy at #5 with 8,453 units sold.

Splatoon (#6 with 6,717), Minecraft: PlayStation Vita Edition (#7 with 6,451), and Super Mario Maker (#9 with 5,973) are all back in the top-10, proving to be regular-sellers, once again.

As far as new releases go, we had Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition by Larian Studios and published by Spike Chunsoft in Japan take the #8 spot after having sold 6,179 units on its first week. It’s also worth noting that the game had a good amount of publicity, as I recall seeing ads for it scattered across various Japanese video game news outlets for the past month.

Camouflaj and Logan Games’ episodic action-adventure stealth game République sold 3,156 copies in its debut to take the #16 spot, and Skullgirls 2nd Encore followed at #17 after selling 2,678 copies.

On the hardware side of things, similar to last week, we saw a drop across all platforms by a few hundred or thousand units, but once again, the Wii U was the only one that sold more than the previous week, and this time by 1,128 units. Perhaps some people that weren’t able to get their Wii U consoles due to stock shortage when Pokkén Tournament released have been doing some catch up purchases.

The top-20 chart for the week is as follows:
