Back in March, we said Way of the Samurai 4 was in development. Even though the game wasn’t announced in Japan, Acquire was searching for a Western publisher.
Famitsu has Way of the Samurai 4 in this week’s issue and its a PlayStation 3 game. Well, for now. Publisher Spike ported Way of the Samurai 3 to Xbox 360 four months after the PlayStation 3 release came out in Japan. Agetec and UFO Interactive worked together to release both versions in North America.
A scan for Way of the Samurai 4 has not been released at this time. We’ll update this post as soon as we find one.
Update: When you start Way of the Samurai 4 there are four kinds of heroes to choose from: young, young man, and middle aged. Once you create a hero it’s up to you to decide what happens to the three groups fighting over a harbor after foreigners arrived. Players can side with the shogunate, the anti-foreigner group or the outsiders with firearms, the Jet Jenkins.
Spike and Acquire are designing event scenes with even more flexibility. Famitsu shows a scene where the player is asked to explore a cave. You can follow someone in, talk, reject, or simply go home. If you leave the scene closes. A new feature shows the flow of events giving players hints on what to do.
