Atlus and Vanillaware’s 13 Sentinels Aegis Rim is about to make its worldwide debut soon and, if you’re still wondering how it plays, it’d be an easy thing to be curious about. After all, many of the early screenshots show 2D segments with characters talking and don’t focus too much on the real-time strategy elements. Now, a new PlayStation Underground segment that covers 19 minutes of 13 Sentinels Aegis Rim gameplay has been released to offer more insights.
This video picks things up right from the beginning. It starts with the 13 Sentinels Aegis Rim prologue, which introduces us to a world where kaiju are attacking and people will have to “get in the robots and fight.” (Unlike Shinji, who hesitated a bit when his time came.) After setting the stage and showing Iori Fuyusaka summoning a robot, there’s a brief flashback to a few days before and Juro Kurabe, one of the other playable characters.
Here’s PlayStation Underground’s 13 Sentinels Aegis Rim gameplay video. The initial segments show Juro speaking with classmates at school and in the area. (It also introduces the Thought Cloud, where you can think about keywords you pick up.) If you want to see a battle segment, skip ahead to the 12 minute mark. That’s when you can see Natsuno Minami and Miura Keitarou start to fight.
13 Sentinels Aegis Rim will come to the PlayStation 4 outside Japan on September 22, 2020. An English dub day-one patch will accompany the launch.
