An interesting alteration has been made in one of WarioWare Gold’s minigames, showing how the collection is keeping up with the times. The latest Japanese trailer shows the Gamer minigame from Game & Wario is in the collection. However, 9-Volt’s consoles and handhelds have changed in WarioWare Gold and become more modern. (Thanks, Super Mario Wiki!)

Originally, 9-Volt had a Virtual Boy set up next to his TV and was using what appeared to be a Game Boy Micro to play video games when his mom was not watching. In WarioWare Gold, he has upgraded. The Virtual Boy has been replaced by a Nintendo Wii U. A GameCube and Super Nintendo can be seen on the shelf below the TV, instead of drawers. A Nintendo 64 controller is also present in the entertainment center. In his hands, the Game Boy Micro has been replaced by a Nintendo 3DS.

Here are two examples of footage, to compare. In this first video, we see 9-Volt’s original room in the Gamer minigame from Game & Wario on the Nintendo Wii U.

In this second Japanese trailer from WarioWare Gold, we see 9-Volt’s new layout at the 1:38 point.

WarioWare Gold will come to the Nintendo 3DS in Europe on July 27, 2018, in Japan on August 2, 2018 and in North America on August 3, 2018.
