Vanquish Visuals Inspired By Casshern

Vanquish, the third person shooter from Shinji Mikami and Platinum Games, has sci-fi super suits and a space station that feels like a metropolis. While Mikami feels Vanquish has Western style, he was originally inspired by Casshern.

 

“I do think the visuals lean more towards a Western style, but the original inspiration was from Casshern, a Japanese animated show, and a lot of the game’s taste comes from that,” Mikami said to Gamasutra in an interview. I see some similarities between the main character design, but I’d say Vanquish looks more like the 2004 live action movie.
