Vagrant Story originally released for the PlayStation on February 10, 2000. The story follows Ashley Riot, an elite agent known as a ‘Riskbreaker.’ When Ashley investigates the link between a member of parliament and Duke Bardorba, he gets blamed for the duke’s murder. The game’s story tells us what happened a week prior to the murder.
As for gameplay, the action RPG has various puzzle and platformer elements. These include running, jumping, and pushing boxes to navigate or solve puzzles. It features seamless battles with a real-time system, similar to Parasite Eve which released a couple of years prior.
Additionally, Square Enix shared a first look at colored prototype Bring Arts figures of Ashley Riot and Sydney Losstarot to celebrate Vagrant Story‘s 20th anniversary:
We’ll get more information on the new Ashley Riot and Sydney Losstarot Bring Arts figures later.
