Nintendo 64 shoot ‘em up Viewpoint 2064 has rarely been seen since it debuted at Nintendo Space World 1999. That’s on account of it never being released. But recently new footage of it appeared online (thanks RetroCollect).
The new footage that you can watch above comes from the person who bought a development cartridge of the game from eBay for $2,999. It seems that it is a near-finished version of the game as the levels can be played all the way through.
Viewpoint 2064 was in development by Sammy since 1998. It was a sequel to the original 1992 Viewpoint by SNK. While the original was an isometric shooter, Viewpoint 2064 was to have multiple points of view and quality 3D graphics for the time.
Sammy cancelled Viewpoint 2064 about a year after showing the prototype at Nintendo Space World 1999 due to various development issues.
