Genshin Impact, Honkai Impact 3rd Twitter Login Warning Issued

Warning Issued to Genshin Impact, Honkai Impact 3rd Players Who Use Twitter to Login

HoYoverse issued a warning to Genshin Impact, Tears of Themis, and Honkai Impact 3rd players who use the Twitter login option. Due to upcoming Twitter API changes, it warned of relying on the account to login. On both the Genshin Impact, Tears of Themis, and Honkai Impact 3rd Twitter accounts in multiple languages, it recommended binding an email address to HoYoVerse accounts.

The announcements on both accounts noted that HoYoVerse isn’t entirely sure yet how the API change will affect the Genshin Impact and Honkai Impact 3rd Twitter login options. However, it noted that it is better to err on the side of caution and add an email. Here’s one of the notices.

On February 2, 2023, Twitter announced it would begin charging for Twitter API access. This could mean apps and bots that post updates, including ones for say government or educational services, would stop working unless their creators would pay for continued access. This could affect games that access the Twitter API as well.

The Twitter API change will go into effect on February 9, 2023.

Genshin Impact is available on the PS4, PS5, PC, and mobile devices. Honkai Impact 3rd is available on PCs and mobile devices. Tears of Themis is available on mobile devices.
