TVii Service Coming On December 8 Alongside Wii U Launch In Japan

Nintendo announced the electronic TV guide for Wii U will launch alongside the console in Japan on December 8. TVii pulls data from Rovi’s G-Guide and lets players scroll through listings on the GamePad. What’s interesting is the TV remote control feature, a built-in freebie in North America, costs 100 yen ($1.20) in Japan.

Nintendo of America said TVii will be available in December, but didn’t specify a date. Netflix, Amazon Video, Hulu Plus, and Tivo are integrated into TVii in North America. Europe will be able to use the TVii service in early 2013.
