Transformers: Heavy Metal AR Mobile Game Being Made by Niantic

Niantic announced its next augmented reality mobile game, and it uses another major IP. Transformers: Heavy Metal will be an AR mobile game along the lines of Pokemon GO and Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. This means using a phone to explore the real world in search of virtual Autobot and Decepticon battles. A beta and soft launch are planned in the near future. Pre-registration is open.

Here’s how things will work. In Transformers: Heavy Metal, people must help the Autobots. Decepticons will be hidden around the real world. When you play the game, you’ll be able to see where they are. Once you find one, you will be able to use Autobot to fight them. The initial screenshot showed a player working alongside Bumblebee to fight Shadow Striker.

Here’s a better look at the first two screenshots for the game.

As for pre-registering, people can submit their email at the official website. There, Niantic confirmed that there will be a beta and soft launch in “select markets.” However, it didn’t offer dates for either or mention which countries could be a part of the rollout.

Transformers: Heavy Metal is in development for both Android and Apple iOS devices, with a beta and soft launch planned in the future.
