The first character confirmed to be playable is Mikazuki Munechika. The most well-known Touken Ranbu character is based on one of Japan’s five greatest swords. The original sword was built in the Heian period, and it is currently being preserved at Tokyo National Museum.

Touken Ranbu Musou‘s storyline will have fifteen playable Swordboys grouped into five different teams. Mikazuki Munechika will lead the first team. Koei Tecmo and DMM Games will reveal details on the other characters at a later date.

The original Touken Ranbu -Online-, is a free-to-play PC browser game where players primarily collect personifications of Japan’s legendary swords and spears. After its debut in 2015, the franchise also received multiple stage plays and anime adaptations. In February 2021, Johren released an official English version of the original Touken Ranbu -Online-.

Touken Ranbu Musou will be available for the Nintendo Switch and PC via DMM Game Player in Japan.
