Players will take control of Reimu Hakurei as she visits Scarlet Devil Castle to defeat the latest disturbance threatening Gensokyo. In this case, the disturbance is Remilia Scarlet, who hopes to spread her mist throughout the land once again. As opposed to the bullet hell genre of the original Touhou series, Koumajou Remilia: Scarlet Symphony plays more like Castlevania. It is a side scroller in which you defeat enemies to get to a boss chamber, and the gothic aesthetic of the game only adds to the similarity. It was first released on Windows PC in 2009 at Comiket 79 under the name Koumajou Densetsu: Scarlet Symphony.

Koumajou Remilia: Scarlet Symphony will release on the Nintendo Switch and PC sometime in 2021. The developers have not yet announced a price.
