Touhou 17: Wily Beast and Weakest Creature Demo Now Available On PC, Here’s How To Play

Touhou Project’s seventeenth official release in Touhou Kikeijuu: Wily Beast and Weakest Creature releases this summer but you can now try out its demo for free on PC.

You can grab the demo over on Steam or download it here to try out on PC.

The demo is the exact same one from the recent Reitaisai, and while it only supports the Japanese language, most of its menu options are in English as shown in the above screenshot. Playable characters include Reimu Hakurei, Marisa Kirisame, and Youmu Konpaku.

After starting a game, you’ll be prompted to select a difficulty, then a character, followed by an animal spirit out of three choices. The Wolf Spirit powers up your shots while slowed (Shift). The Otter Spirit powers up your Spell Card and increases the number of uses, and Eagle powers up your shots when moving at a faster speed.

Here are the basic controls for the game:

• Arrow keys = Movement
• Z – Shot
• X – Spell Card (Limited uses)
• Shift – Slows movement
• Esc – Pause

Here are some extra commands:

• Message Skip – Hold down the shot button
• Speedy Retry – Press R on the pause screen
• Snapshot – R
• Windowed/Full-Screen Toggle – Alt+Enter
