81 Produce announced that one of its members, the Japanese voice actor Toshihiko Seki, has tested positive for COVID-19. [Thanks, Oricon!]
According to a press release published by the agency, Seki showed fever symptoms on the night of July 31, 2020, so he took a medical exam the next day on August 1, 2020. The PCR test results came up positive on August 3, 2020.
81 Produce noted that, while it tried to check Seki’s prior activities, the latter did not know where he may have caught the novel coronavirus. He is now complying under guidelines from health care experts and is hospitalized in stable condition.
Toshihiko Seki is perhaps most well known for his roles in the Gundam franchise. He voiced Duo Maxwell in Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, Rau Le Creuset in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED, and Rey Za Burrel in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny. He also reprised these roles in recently released Gundam games, such as SD Gundam G Generation Cross Rays and Mobile Suit Gundam: Extreme Vs. Maxi Boost ON.
Other known roles from him also include Iruka Umino in Naruto, Embryo in Cross Ange, Goh Hinogami in the Virtua Fighter series, and Loni Dunamis in the PlayStation 2 RPG Tales of Destiny 2.
We wish Toshihiko Seki a speedy recovery from COVID-19.
