In the 1990s and 2000s, Tiger handheld games were a big thing. You could find these little LCD games based on original concepts or famous IPs. Now, four are coming back in Fall 2020. The Tiger Sonic 3, The Little Mermaid, Transformers, and X-Men handhelds will be heading out at $14.99 per game.
Each one of these handheld games is an exact recreation of the original models. The Tiger Sonic 3 takes some cues from the original Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Sonic runs along a path, jumping and moving to avoid and attack enemies. In The Little Mermaid, Ariel avoids obstacles on screen, like her father or Ursula’s minions. In Transformers, which is the Generation 2 model, Optimus Prime drives along as a truck and sometimes has to turn back into a robot to defeat Decepticons. In the X-Men game, Cyclops faces enemies like Juggernaut and a Sentinel.
Listings for all four of the Tiger handheld games have already appeared on GameStop. People interested should also make sure to have two AA batteries ready for each unit they purchase.
In the past, other Tiger handheld games included units based on Castlevania, Double Dragon, Duke Nukem, Golden Axe, Mega Man, Pac-Man, Shinobi, and Street Fighter.
