Last week, Level 5 released Inazuma Eleven Go 2: Chrono Stone. The game sold 168,179 copies in its first week across its Neppuu and Raimei versions. How does that compare to past games?

On the bright side, Inazuma Eleven Go 2 outsold the first Inazuma Eleven Go game’s first-week sales, which were at 135,259 copies sold. However, it’s nowhere near the figures of the original Inazuma Eleven games on the Nintendo DS. That having been said, outperforming its immediate predecessor is a start.

Meanwhile, on the hardware front, the Nintendo 3DS sold over 300,000 units combined across the 3DS and 3DS XL models. The Wii U, on the other hand, saw a drop in sales during its second week on the market, coming down to 126,916 units sold.

Wii U’s launch is still difficult to assess, since consoles aren’t nearly as popular in the Japanese market as portable systems are, and market conditions have changed since 2006, which is when the Wii and PlayStation 3 launched. That said, the Wii U is slightly ahead of the PlayStation Vita’s sales in its second week, and has a Mario game that is likely to help sales over a long period of time.

Sales were strong across the board for software and Nintendo 3DS hardware this week, and will likely be higher next week, going into the holidays. Next week will also see the release of One Piece: Romance Dawn, AKB1/149 Love Election, and Magician’s Quest: Town of Magic.
