Cooking video games aren’t exactly new. Cooking Mama popularized the genre and before that there was a Yoshinoya where you made beef bowls and Curry House CoCo Ichibanya where you made curry. I think Vividred Operation: Akane and the Mayo Operation is the first anime tie in cooking game.

You help Akane squeeze a large bottle of mayonnaise on a bowl of rice by rotating the analog stick. Move the stick too fast and you fail because mayo flow breaks. That’s the entire game. There are five difficulty levels from Vivid Simple to Vivid Difficult.

I guess the real reason to spend 300 yen ($3) on Vividred Operation: Akane and the Mayo Operation is to give Akane a giant Isshiki mayo bottle to use as a weapon in Vividred Operation: Hyper Intimate Power which comes out on PlayStation 3 as a PSN download on June 20.
