CD Projekt Red announced that there will be an official The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Mod Editor to assist people with creating and using mods in the game. However, it won’t appear until 2024.
The company brought up the new tool on social media. The announcement didn’t offer too many details about what to expect from it. However, it did note it can be used for altering existing content or implementing entirely new things. Note that the game first came out on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC in May 2015, so this mod support is coming about nine years after the game’s official release.
Here’s the official The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Mod Editor reveal, which also discussed some hints about possibilities for mods. It also pointed out that this will be a free feature for people to use.
While there’s no official mod tool yet, there are plenty of mods still present in the game. For example, going to the official Nexus Mods page for the game shows that new ones are still appearing on a weekly basis.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC. The official PC Mod Editor is in development, with a 2024 release window.
